The scholars asked how he can prove that the verse is for the prophet's progeny exclusively.
He answered: This is clear in Allaah's saying HQ57:26: "We sent Noah & Abraham & placed prophethood & the Book among their offsprings, some of whom have the right guidance. However, most of them are evildoers." Hence, the inheritance of the guided ones, not the evil doers ...
Ma'mun asked: Did Allaah give distinction to the prophet's progeny over all other people?!
The Emaam (S) answered: Allaah, the Majestic, the Omnipotent, gave distinction to the Prophet's progeny (S) over people in His Wise Book.
Ma'mun asked for examples.
Emaam (S) cited: Allaah chose (& gave distinction) to Adam and Noah & the family of Abraham & the family of Imran over all people of the world. They were the offspring of one another. (HQ: 3:33-34)
Allaah also says: Are they jealous of the favors that Allaah has done to some people? We have given to the family of Abraham the Book, Wisdom & a great Kingdom (HQ:4:54)
Then Allaah refers this to the believers at whom he addressed: Believers, Obey Allaah, His messenger & your qualified leadersto whom He gave the Book & Wisdom as inheritence, but people envied them for those 2 things as He affirms in His saying: HQ:4:54):... The favor stands for the obligatory obedience to the immaculate chosen ones & the great Kingdom stands for the obedience to them.
The scholars asked: Does Allaah the High explain this selection in the Book?
Emaam Reza (S) answered: Allaah explains this selection obviously in 12 (I say pay attention: 12! Allaah o Akbar) Verses in the Book & refers to it in many Verses whose meanings are hidden...

Here, I like to stop saying that whoever cares about His World to Come & has seen any sign of Right with Prophet, Ali & his sons must find these 12 Wonderful Surprising Verses & the explanations Emaam Reza, the inheritor of the Divine knowledge & the right successor of Prophet & Ali (City of Knowledge & its Gate) delivers & You Will be Guided & Saved if God's Willing

In the name of Allaah, the Unique, the Beneficent, the Merciful
His salutations be upon Mohammad the prophet & his family
Salaam and Condolences for anniversary of martyrdom of Emaam Ali son of Moses Al-Reza Salawaat be upon him & his fathers. I, certainly, encourage people to study & know Prophet Mohammad & Ali & their right successors via right sources in a period of time that they are unknown & misunderstood even in alleged shia religious schools. We have missed knowing them & its effect on our situation & future & they have fulfilled their responsibilities perfectly. We need them & they need not us. I encourage people to throw the books of Sheykh Sadugh & Majlesi & so forth in garbages & know Ghoraan & Hadith from prophet's Etrat.
A part of Emaam Reza's (S) words about "the Selection":
In a session with scholars of Iraq & Iran, when king Ma'mun asked them about the exegesis of Allaah's saying in Ghoraan 35:32 "We gave the book as an inheritance to Our chosen servants" they said the verse refers to all the nation of Esslaam. Ma'mun asked Emaam Reza's (S) opinion. He answered: I disagree with them. I say Allaah, the Blessed, refers to the immaculate progeny of Prophet (S) exclusively.
Ma'mun asked for explanation. The Emaam (S) explained: If Allaah referred to all of them, they all should be in Paradise. This is for His saying in the same verse HQ 35:32:"... among whom some are unjust against their souls, some are moderate and some are exceedingly virtuous by the permission of Allaah. This is indeed a great favor". Then Allaah informs that all of them will be in Paradise. HQ35:33: "They will enter the Gardens of Eden"...They are those who Allaah describes in HQ 33:33: "People of the House, wants to remove all kinds of uncleanness from you & purify you purely".
The Prophet (S) said about them: "I am leaving among you 2 weighty things, the Book of Allah & my progeny; my family. They will not apart each other until they will join me on the Divine Pool. Consider how you regard me in treating them" continued

5. Chapter: On Watchfulness

Allah Almighty says, "He who sees you stand up to pray and your movements with those who prostrate," (W26:217-218; H26:219-220) and the Almighty says, "He is with you wherever you are." (57:4) The Almighty says, "Allah Him from whom nothing is hidden, either on earth or in heaven." (W3:5; H3:6) The Almighty says, "Your Lord is always lying in wait." (89:14). The Almighty says, "(Allah) knows the eyes' deceit and people's breasts conceal." (40:19)

60. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, (PBUH), there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black. No trace of travel could be seen on him and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down by the Prophet. Resting his knees against his and placing the palms of his hands on his thighs, he said, 'O Muhammad! Tell me about Islam.' The Messenger of Allah, (PBUH), said, 'Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to perform the prayers, to pay the zakat, to fast in Ramadan and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so.' He said, 'You have spoken the truth,' and we amazed at him asking him and then saying that he had spoken the truth. He said, 'Then tell me about belief.' He said, 'It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in the decree, both its good and its evil.' He said, 'You have spoken the truth.' He said, 'Then tell me about ihsan.' He said, 'It is to worship Allah as though you could see Him for while you do not see Him, He sees you.' He said, 'Then tell me about the Hour.' He said, 'The one asked about it knows no more about it than the asker.' He said, 'Then tell me about its signs.' He said, 'That a slavegirl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see barefooted, destitute herdsmen competing in constructing lofty buildings.' Then he left but I stayed on a while. Then the Prophet said, ''Umar, do you know who the questioner was?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'It was Jibril who came to teach you your religion.'" [Muslim]

. Chapter 4: On Truthfulness

Allah Almighty says, "O who you believe! Fear Allah and be with the truthful' (W9:129; H9:119) and the Almighty says, "Truthful men and truthful women," (33:35) and the Almighty says, "Being true to Allah would be better for them." (W47:20; H47:21)

54. Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet, (PBUH), said, "Truthfulness leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man should be truthful until he is written down as truthful in the sight of Allah. Lying leads to deviance and deviance leads to the Fire. A person lies to the point that he is written down as a liar in the sight of Allah." [Agreed upon]

                      55. Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn 'Ali ibn Abi Talib said, "I memorised from the Messenger of Allah, (PBUH): 'Abandon anything that gives you doubt for what gives you no doubt. Truthfulness is peace of mind and lying is doubt." [At-Tirmidhi]

Who wrote the Qur'an?

Who wrote the Qur'an?

Yusuf Toropov
yusuf.toropov@gmail.com

The non-Muslim's answer to this important question usually sounds like this:

"The Qur'an was authored by a human being; it is not a literal revelation from God. It is a book created by human intelligence, like any other book. It was, as a matter of historical fact, written by Muhammad, in the seventh century A.D."

If this is your view, rest assured that you have plenty of company!

You should also know, though, that this point of view is not without its difficulties. To believe it, you must also believe that Muhammad, peace be upon him:

- Knew that the Earth and heavenly bodies were once a single point, and were separated violently (21:30)

What's more...

- If you don't believe that he had access to special knowledge that made possible this prefiguring of the modern Big Bang theory - a theory entirely unknown to the Arabs of the seventh century - you must conclude that 21:30 of the Qur'an is merely an intriguing coincidence, a matter of getting something right by chance.

Perhaps this passage is simply an intriguing coincidence. If it is, however, it is not the only one.

This man, the supposed "author" of the Qur'an, would also have to have:

- Known about the relativity of time (22:47; 23:112 - 114; 70:4), a subject similarly unknown to Arab tribes of this period.

Either he possessed some extraordinary source of knowledge allowing discussion of this subject thirteen and a half centuries before Einstein, or we are looking at another intriguing coincidence.

Which is it?

- Most non-Muslims will instinctively answer along these lines: " Even if it means granting the text of the Qur'an a second striking coincidental feature, the likeliest explanation is that both passages are merely examples of happenstance."

And yet:

Consider that the same author would also have to have:

- Known that the universe is continuously expanding (51:47).

- Known that matter is created in pairs (36:36). (By the way, this discovery earned the scientist Paul Dirac the Nobel Prize in 1933.)

- Known what modern biological science knows about the foundation of life on Earth, namely that it is water-based (21:30).

- Known that iron is not native to the Earth, coming instead from an extraterrestrial source (57:25).

- Known that the planet Earth travels in an orbit (27:88; 21:33).

- Known that the sun, too, moves in an orbit (37:38), as indeed modern astronomy proves that it does.

- Known that the Earth's atmosphere acts like a protective shield for living creatures (21:32).

- Known that the stages of human development in the womb unfold in a specific, describable sequence (23:14) that has been confirmed by modern experts in human embryology.

- Known that the roots of mountains extend deep into the earth and serve the function of preventing shocks (21:31).

- Known details of how the Earth's rain cycle functions that were mysteries to scientists until the twentieth century (30:48).

- Known what modern oceanographers have now learned, namely that bordering seas meet but do not mingle with one another (55:19 - 20).

- Known that oceans have complex subsurface wave patterns (24:40).

- Known that, in communities of honeybees, only the females are workers (16:68 - 69). (The Arabic verb forms can connect this reference to bees only to female beings).

- Known, seven years ahead of time, that the humiliated Byzantine army of his day would rejuvenate itself and secure a major victory, which in fact it eventually did against the Persians (30:1 - 4).

- Known, two years before he did so, that he would enter Mecca in triumph (48:27).

- Known that the body of the Pharaoh who had opposed Moses would be preserved for future generations (10:91 - 92) - it is today on display in the Royal Mummies Chamber of the Egyptian Museum.

- Known to refer (12:54) to the Egyptian head of state of Joseph's, peace be upon him, era as king (Aziz-Malik) and not Pharaoh, the word that appears erroneously in the book of Genesis.

- Known that the fabled Arabian lost city of Iram (89:6 - 8) whose historical existence was confirmed by archaelogists only in 1990, was a historical reality.

- Known that the ancient flood that had beset the southern Arabian people of Saba from their dam system (34:15 - 17), similarly confirmed by modern archaeology, was a historical reality.

- Known the name of Haman (28:38), a historical figure close to the Pharaoh of the era of Moses, peace be upon him... despite the problems that a) the name Haman does not appear in the Torah's version of the story, and b) the ability to translate the hieroglyphic language system of the Egyptians had been utterly lost for centuries at the time of the revelation of the Qur'an, and indeed would remain lost until the year 1799. After the discovery in that year of the Rosetta Stone, scholars were able to unlock the mystery of the hieroglyphs and, eventually, to confirm that there was indeed a Haman, unmentioned in the Hebrew scriptures, who was close to this Pharaoh in this period, and who was involved in construction, just as the Qur'an says. If we believe that human authorship is the only possible explanation for the origin of the Qur'an, we must assume either that Muhammad, peace be upon him, somehow had access to this information, or we must believe that this passage is yet another in a remarkably long series of intriguing coincidences.

How many coincidences do we need to get the message?

The message is simple: no human intelligence could have produced this book in the seventh century.

Please know that there are many, many more such coincidences in the Qur'an. I have listed here only those that do not require advanced knowledge in such topics as Arabic, mathematics, Islamic history, or classical poetic forms. Even with the brief list I have provided, there comes, I think, a point at which one is obliged to evaluate the Qur'an's message carefully, closely, and respectfully. These supposed coincidences are, I believe, clear signs to humankind that the Qur'an's message is of a special quality, and must not be ignored.

Only the repeated exposure of the individual human heart to the Qur'an's message can settle such a momentous question, "Who wrote the Qur'an?"

If you are a person who believes that there is no such thing as a divinely inspired revelation, the question is: how many coincidences does it take for you to consider such a revelation to humanity may be possible?

If you are a person who believes that there is such a thing as a divinely inspired revelation, the question is, how many coincidences are you willing to ignore before considering the possibility that a particular text presents such revelation?

Please know that I am NOT interested in any debate about the possibility that any ONE of these verses I have cited is just a coincidence, or is for some other reason unpersuasive to you.

The truly remarkable thing is that ALL of these features should present themselves in a text supposedly composed by human intelligence - and the profound unlikelihood of that is the astonishing coincidence we should ponder.

Knowing what you now know about these supposed coincidences, do you honestly believe that the Qur'an is simply the product of human intelligence, a book like any other book? Or does it seem more likely to you that its message is of a special quality?

hadith: Prophet's Miracles

⊆ 19:18 by CommuniKation | ˜ 0 comments »

Narrated Anas:

A bowl of water was brought to the Prophet while he was at Az-Zawra. He placed his hand in it and the water started flowing among his fingers. All the people performed ablution (with that water). Qatada asked Anas, "How many people were you?" Anas replied, "Three hundred or nearly three-hundred."

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 772

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

I saw Allah's Apostle at the 'time when the Asr prayer was due. Then the people were searching for water for ablution but they could not find any. Then some water was brought to Allah's Apostle and he placed his hand in the pot and ordered the people to perform the ablution with the water. I saw water flowing from underneath his fingers and the people started performing the ablution till all of them did it.

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 773

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet went out on one of his journeys with some of his companions. They went on walking till the time of the prayer became due. They could not find water to perform the ablution. One of them went away and brought a little amount of water in a pot. The Prophet took it and performed the ablution, and then stretched his four fingers on to the pot and said (to the people), "Get up to perform the ablution." They started performing the ablution till all of them did it, and they were seventy or so persons.

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 774

Narrated Humaid:

Anas bin Malik said, "Once the time of the prayer became due and the people whose houses were close to the Mosque went to their houses to perform ablution, while the others remained (sitting there). A stone pot containing water was brought to the Prophet, who wanted to put his hand in it, but It was too small for him to spread his hand in it, and so he had to bring his fingers together before putting his hand in the pot. Then all the people performed the ablution (with that water)." I asked Anas, "How many persons were they." He replied, "There were eighty men."

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 775

Narrated Salim bin Abi Aj-Jad:

Jabir bin 'Abdullah said, "The people became very thirsty on the day of Al-Hudaibiya (Treaty). A small pot containing some water was in front of the Prophet and when he had finished the ablution, the people rushed towards him. He asked, 'What is wrong with you?' They replied, 'We have no water either for performing ablution or for drinking except what is present in front of you.' So he placed his hand in that pot and the water started flowing among his fingers like springs. We all drank and performed ablution (from it)." I asked Jabir, "How many were you?" he replied, "Even if we had been one-hundred-thousand, it would have been sufficient for us, but we were fifteen-hundred."

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 776

Narrated Al-Bara:

We were one-thousand-and-four-hundred persons on the day of Al-Hudaibiya (Treaty), and (at) Al-Hudaibiya (there) was a well. We drew out its water not leaving even a single drop. The Prophet sat at the edge of the well and asked for some water with which he rinsed his mouth and then he threw it out into the well. We stayed for a short while and then drew water from the well and quenched our thirst, and even our riding animals drank water to their satisfaction.

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 777

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

Abu Talha said to Um Sulaim, "I have noticed feebleness in the voice of Allah's Apostle which I think, is caused by hunger. Have you got any food?" She said, "Yes." She brought out some loaves of barley and took out a veil belonging to her, and wrapped the bread in part of it and put it under my arm and wrapped part of the veil round me and sent me to Allah's Apostle. I went carrying it and found Allah's Apostle in the Mosque sitting with some people. When I stood there, Allah's Apostle asked, "Has Abu Talha sent you?" I said, "Yes". He asked, "With some food? I said, "Yes" Allah's Apostle then said to the men around him, "Get up!" He set out (accompanied by them) and I went ahead of them till I reached Abu Talha and told him (of the Prophet's visit). Abu Talha said, "O Um Sulaim! Allah's Apostle is coming with the people and we have no food to feed them." She said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." So Abu Talha went out to receive Allah's Apostle. Allah's Apostle came along with Abu Talha. Allah's Apostle said, "O Um Sulaim! Bring whatever you have." She brought the bread which Allah's Apostle ordered to be broken into pieces. Um Sulaim poured on them some butter from an oilskin. Then Allah's Apostle recited what Allah wished him to recite, and then said, "Let ten persons come (to share the meal)." Ten persons were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he again said, "Let another ten do the same." They were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he again said, '"'Let another ten persons (do the same.)" They were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he said, "Let another ten persons come." In short, all of them ate their fill, and they were seventy or eighty men.

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 778

Narrated Imran bin Husain:

That they were with the Prophet on a journey. They travelled the whole night, and when dawn approached, they took a rest and sleep overwhelmed them till the sun rose high in the sky. The first to get up was Abu Bakr. Allah's Apostles used not to be awakened from his sleep, but he would wake up by himself. 'Umar woke up and then Abu Bakr sat by the side of the Prophet's head and started saying: Allahu-Akbar raising his voice till the Prophet woke up, (and after traveling for a while) he dismounted and led us in the morning prayer. A man amongst the people failed to join us in the prayer. When the Prophet had finished the prayer, he asked (the man), "O so-and-so! What prevented you from offering the prayer with us?" He replied, "I am Junub," Alllah's Apostle ordered him to perform Tayammam with clean earth. The man then offered the prayer. Allah's Apostle ordered me and a few others to go ahead of him. We had become very thirsty. While we were on our way (looking for water), we came across a lady (riding an animal), hanging her legs between two water-skins. We asked her, "Where can we get water?" She replied, "Oh ! There is no water." We asked, "how far is your house from the water?" She replied, "A distance of a day and a night travel." We said, "Come on to Allah's Apostle, "She asked, "What is Allah's Apostle ?" So we brought her to Allah's Apostle against her will, and she told him what she had told us before and added that she was the mother of orphans. So the Prophet ordered that her two water-skins be brought and he rubbed the mouths of the water-skins. As we were thirsty, we drank till we quenched our thirst and we were forty men. We also filled all our waterskins and other utensils with water, but we did not water the camels. The waterskin was so full that it was almost about to burst. The Prophet then said, "Bring what (foodstuff) you have." So some dates and pieces of bread were collected for the lady, and when she went to her people, she said, "I have met either the greatest magician or a prophet as the people claim." So Allah guided the people of that village through that lady. She embraced Islam and they all embraced Islam.

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 771

Narrated 'Abdullah:

We used to consider miracles as Allah's Blessings, but you people consider them to be a warning. Once we were with Allah's Apostle on a journey, and we ran short of water. He said, "Bring the water remaining with you." The people brought a utensil containing a little water. He placed his hand in it and said, "Come to the blessed water, and the Blessing is from Allah." I saw the water flowing from among the fingers of Allah's Apostle , and no doubt, we heard the meal glorifying Allah, when it was being eaten (by him).

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 779

Narrated Jabir:

My father had died in debt. So I came to the Prophet and said, "My father (died) leaving unpaid debts, and I have nothing except the yield of his date palms; and their yield for many years will not cover his debts. So please come with me, so that the creditors may not misbehave with me." The Prophet went round one of the heaps of dates and invoked (Allah), and then did the same with another heap and sat on it and said, "Measure (for them)." He paid them their rights and what remained was as much as had been paid to them.

Sahi Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 780

Narrated Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr:

The companions of Suffa were poor people. The Prophet once said, "Whoever has food enough for two persons, should take a third one (from among them), and whoever has food enough for four persons, should take a fifth or a sixth (or said something similar)." Abu Bakr brought three persons while the Prophet took ten. And Abu Bakr with his three family member (who were I, my father and my mother) (the sub-narrator is in doubt whether 'Abdur-Rahman said, "My wife and my servant who was common for both my house and Abu Bakr's house.") Abu Bakr took his supper with the Prophet and stayed there till he offered the 'Isha' prayers. He returned and stayed till Allah's Apostle took his supper. After a part of the night had passed, he returned to his house. His wife said to him, "What has detained you from your guests?" He said, "Have you served supper to them?" She said, "They refused to take supper) until you come. They (i.e. some members of the household) presented the meal to them but they refused (to eat)" I went to hide myself and he said, "O Ghunthar!" He invoked Allah to cause my ears to be cut and he rebuked me. He then said (to them): Please eat!" and added, I will never eat the meal." By Allah, whenever we took a handful of the meal, the meal grew from underneath more than that handful till everybody ate to his satisfaction; yet the remaining food was more than the original meal. Abu Bakr saw that the food was as much or more than the original amount. He called his wife, "O sister of Bani Firas!" She said, "O pleasure of my eyes. The food has been tripled in quantity." Abu Bakr then started eating thereof and said, "It (i.e. my oath not to eat) was because of Sa all." He took a handful from it, and carried the rest to the Prophet. SO that food was with the Prophet . There was a treaty between us and some people, and when the period of that treaty had elapsed, he divided US into twelve groups, each being headed by a man. Allah knows how many men were under the command of each leader. Anyhow, the Prophet surely sent a leader with each group. Then all of them ate of that meal.
